Explore and investigate the creative and rewarding artistic skills of lino cutting with artist and experienced teacher Catherine Carmyllie.
This short two-week course will introduce you to the materials and tools of lino cutting before moving onto creating, cutting and printing your own design. You can even order your very own Lino Kit put together by Catherine so everything you need can be delivered safely to you at home.
Catherine is experienced with many print methods and talks around the subject with options for advanced print methods and further learning. She is open to answer any questions and offers advice and references.
You will be invited to join a closed Facebook group where you can get 1-2-1 feedback from your tutor, chat with other participants and ask questions at any time.
With each session, you will receive a course handout to download and keep. The handouts detail what that session has covered so all the information is there to refer back at any time. Each session will be released weekly, however, you can watch videos in your own time as you will have access to your course for 12 weeks after release!
Catherine is a Liverpool based Artist currently working across painting and textile art. She completed a Textile Art degree at Huddersfield University before spending 6 months at The Arts and Crafts Academy of Kuopio, Finland where she had the opportunity to learn ancient Scandinavian skills such as bookbinding, weaving, feltmaking amongst others. Catherine regularly teaches workshops and can’t wait to get started with her online classes.
Lessons will be released at 2pm on Tuesday 12th and Thursday 14th May.

- Lino cut tool x1 (recommended brand ESSDEE)
- Lino material 15cm x 10cm EASYCUT (reversible lino recommended)
- Block print inks various colours
- Roller (sometimes called BRAYER - ideal size 4 inch)
- Artist palette knife or spatula
- Inking tray
- Set of card blanks 6 x 6 inch white with envelopes (matt flat texture, 250g or heavier)
- Trace paper approx 10cm x 10cm (can use household parchment as substitute)
- A4 paper (printmaker quality) or card (minimum 180g - matt smooth texture)
- Newspaper
- Scissors
- Prit stick glue
- Pencil (ideally 2B or 4B)
- 15 x sheets of scrap paper
- Damp cloth
- Old towel
- Sponge & washing up liquid
- Cellotape or masking tape
