Fatemah says about her work:
“The concept of my work comes from self-reflection, a lot of the work I do is me using myself as the subject of my art. I feel like I express myself the most when I’m doing self-portraits or pieces that tell a story. I am a Middle Eastern woman, I want to be visible and acknowledged- by using myself as the subject of my art most of the time, I feel like I am showing a side of myself with no labels attached.
I’m inspired by society and it’s effect on people, I use a lot of eyes in my work because they- to me- symbolise the eyes of other people. I would say my work is abstract and holds deep meaning- it’s something people can interpret in many different ways.”
