Mark Nelson
Mark Nelson is widely acclaimed for his Urban Landscape work which has been described as a refreshing representation of the region by Judith Nesbitt, Chief Curator at Tate Britain. Mark is proud of his Northern heritage: “my paintings represent a vision of the North which is a bright and vibrant mesh of culture and creativity”. His successful recent shows attracted big audiences and have been very well received.
His background is diverse, with successful careers in professional rugby, including Premiership and International Level alongside teaching. Mark is also a published songwriter and has written for the iconic band “The Hollies”, for whom he also painted the album cover “Then, Now and Always”.
Mark is the creator of “The Paradox View”: “as a society we are becoming increasingly at odds with ourselves and the world in which we live. Social attitudes, science and technology, religion, politics, global awareness, poverty and wealth bombard our stability and rationality. Much of our life experience is a complete contradiction. We live in a paradox. This is my Paradox View”.
