Madeleine Williamson Pires was educated in Scotland, where the rugged beauty of her natural surroundings inspired her drawings and paintings. With an ability to portray details and tonal contrast beyond her years, she went on to do a degree in Fine Art at the University of the West of England. She has travelled extensively throughout her life, creating oil paintings that reflect the wonder and passion of an adventurous free spirit. She is now based in Warrington, where she continues to paint wild yet peaceful landscapes and skyscapes, sometimes realistic, sometimes abstract – or a mixture of the two.
Madeleine’s paintings are often described as being windows to other realms, through which viewers can explore and see new things. One owner of Madeleine’s art says that there is a sense of “meant to be” about these paintings, like she is painting something that already exists, but is usually beyond most people’s vision, focus or ability to express.
Madeleine also works as a private tutor, having a qualification in teaching English as a second language, and when she’s not painting, is always busy helping international students and schoolchildren improve their ability to express themselves in English, and in art and music as well. Madeleine believes that gifts and talents should be shared and nurtured in this generation and the next. A thoughtful soul, she believes that art has so much to offer in ways of inspiration, encouragement, and celebration of life in all its intricacies.
