Dorothy Benjamin
Dorothy Benjamin was born and raised in New Zealand, where she completed a Fine Arts degree at Auckland University, followed by a teaching diploma, before travelling to Britain.
Dorothy loves to explore the different landscapes around her by walking through them, taking home the memories as inspiration for her painting.
“I am beguiled by those moments of transformation, when the sky collides with the sea, lake, or mountains.
My paintings are an attempt to capture the fleeting moment of light and colour that is the essence and alchemy of the British landscape.
I am at home always, near the sea, lake and river, and its inland equivalent, the rolling, empty, palette-rich moorland.
My favourite places are the Welsh coast and mountains, and the Dark Peaks of Derbyshire.”
