“The gates of Strawberry Fields have been placed at the forefront of this creation. If you cut a strawberry in half you will see a heart shape – and so these gates represent the big heart of this city, which is first and foremost. Behind the gates are Liverpool’s Liver Building and a door from an abandoned picture house in Toxteth. This symbolises the cities strength and ability to stand firm during hard seasons – to wait for a breakthrough. Finally, the base of the image contains four heads that put Liverpool’s creativity on the world stage and changed culture forever bringing testament to the creative juices that flow through the veins of this city. We honour this past, but we don’t live on it, we build on it.”
