Born in an artistic family, Thao Nguyen spent a lot of time in her Grandfather’s carpentry workshop and uncles’ art and design studios as a child. Being creative was instilled in her at an early age, however after the Vietnam war in 1975 put pressure on the art world and her family advised her to choose something different to study instead of art.
Having chosen to study Biology, Thao built a passion for photography and design and after graduating from university, opened a photography studio that included all services for weddings from design to planning. Moving to Switzerland to complete an MBA in Hotel Management, Thao took the opportunity to study English in her first year which brought her back to studying art; her dream of being an artist coming full circle. After a successful career in hospitality, Thao made the decision to create art full-time moving from London to Liverpool, hotel manager to artist.
“We all know that colours are the reflection of light and light is energy. This is one of the reasons colours can affect our moods and emotions. Most of my paintings use warm colours. This is in the hope that my paintings can bring some positive energy to my audience. Seeing the change in my clients’ home environment with their happy feedback is my biggest reward an artist.”
