Rachel Parry was born in Merseyside in 1988, and a Blue Peter badge winner at the age 9…
Rachel moved to Somerset to study at Millfield independent school where she received a BTEC in Art and Design. Later moving to London, Rachel graduated from London college of fashion and went on to have a successful career designing footwear for the world’s leading high street brands. However, feeling a personal disconnect with the constraints of footwear design, lead her to a career which allowed her to explore Art and design in a broader sense in an effort to recapture her creativity.
Now based in Liverpool, Rachel works from her studio in Waterloo. Today her art is driven by her interest in the natural world and how it aligns with her to create fractals, topographies and sacred geometries often taking form as abstract expressionism, using available materials: canvas, wood, paint, recycled plastics and Resin.
She aims to create work that captures the movement of life, how the paint reacts to create realistic illusions which replicate mother nature’s intentions.
There is a spiritual transcendence to her work where the vibrational phases that emerge are sacrosanct & a healing experience for the viewer. while also displaying a sense of purgatory – a place between worlds.
Rachel’s self-expression shows through her instinctive movement, use of contrasting colours, numbers & recursive geometries.
