Julie Lawrence is a contemporary landscape painter, finding her roots within Romanticism and the painting language of Turner, Blake and Palmer.
Julie finds herself influenced by the evolving light and atmosphere around her local coastline, working intuitively and instinctively, using drawing and photography as a key foundation of her working process. These responses are then developed into oil paintings which strive to capture the transient and ephemeral moments experienced during her own walks along these pathways.
“There is a sense of liminality which runs throughout all of my work which borders the threshold between nostalgic association and the unknown. I strive to invite the viewer into a personal yet transcendent sense of time.”
Julie has exhibited widely across the UK and was awarded North of England Artist of the Year ( 2017) at the National Open Art Competition in London. She is currently working on developing two large bodies of work, one of which is for a solo exhibition in July. Julie is available to commission bespoke pieces upon request through dot-art Gallery.
