Jan Peters’ artwork is highly unusual as she paints enigmatic abstracts and vibrant figure-work in mirror image directly on the back of acrylic glass. This gives added life, perspective and reflections which enhance space. Recently Jan has been translating aspects of her acrylic glass paintings onto canvas to produce a stunningly original canvas painting collection.
With a post graduate degree in Mathematics, Jan worked in industry and education before returning to her love of art 15 years ago. She mainly works directly with clients (largely under the radar from her studio in Knutsford). Her artwork has twice been selected for display at the prestigious Mall Galleries London, exhibited at UK Art Fairs and her work featured in Cheshire Life as well as on the walls of some celebrity clients.
Jan’s work expresses a wild ambiguity, movement and emotion so that the images assume day by day a life of their own in the viewers imagination. Jan often incorporates metallic in her artwork to give that extra dimension. She is inspired by the grace and flow of Eastern Art and Art Nouveau. Her love of exotic light effects and colour comes from her childhood in the Caribbean, whilst her background in Mathematics influences the intriguing shapes and proportions in her work.
Jan Peters (VAA and SAA artist:www.janpetersart.co.uk) is taking on commissions particularly for abstract work.
Jan says “I love creating and experimenting with my paintings but most of all the joy when my work becomes part of someone else’s life and imagination.
I hope you like the paintings too”.
