Huw Lewis-Jones
Huw Lewis-Jones is a professional artist based in Liverpool with roots in Dolgellau, North Wales. Having taken early retirement from an extensive medical career at the University Hospital Aintree, Huw has now once again found himself focusing on his art, finding inspiration in the historical architecture of Liverpool and the beauty of rural north Wales.
Huw paints in oils on canvas with his work broadly divided between North Wales landscapes painted in impasto thick layers and Liverpool Cityscapes exploiting more classical brushwork. Over the last 10 years Huw’s work has been exhibited at least 3 times a year and this year has been shown in 6 exhibitions mostly in North Wales and has exhibited in Liverpool at the Corke Gallery.
“I love the dark Welsh landscapes of my home town area in South Snowdonia and the bright night time landscapes of the city of Liverpool. My recent work has also included portraits of famous faces from these areas.”
