Gordon Franklin is a Liverpool based artist whose passion for painting has evolved over many years. Having studied a six year modular course in Art & Design Technology at Liverpool Hope University and received an Advanced Diploma in Art & Design Technology, Gordon’s beautiful paintings are highly representative, employing traditional brushwork to capture the landscapes he finds himself exploring.
“I was taught the art of sketching by my Father who himself would take his pad out when we went on holidays to Wales. It was mainly trees, horses and cattle but the birds would not cooperate, so we ignored them!
I became quite good at art in school, as it was by far my favourite subject, so I took to doing water colour paintings of birds (mainly from pictures in books), and occasionally a landscape. I started to get commissions off neighbours to do paintings of their cats or dogs. I graduated to oil paints and continues with the landscapes.”
