dot-art x Liverpool Biennial

  • View by Artist

Liverpool Biennial and dot-art have collaborated for the first time to produce a new limited edition by dot-art artist, Fatemah Dashti. This new commission sits within a set of existing Liverpool Biennial editions by Ryan Gander, Frances Disley and Richard Woods, entitled The Liverpool Quartet.

Fatemah Dashti is a Kuwaiti artist currently based in Liverpool. Her practice is inspired by society, surroundings, and experiences. Dashti aims to create work that is relatable as well as expressive, grounded on the belief that art and illustration can inspire a sense of connection between people. Much of Dashti’s most recent work is digital however she has previously used acrylic and oil pastel. Her new edition co-commissioned by dot-art and Liverpool Biennial is inspired by the global, yet still welcoming and familiar nature, of Liverpool.

This new work will sit within The Liverpool Print Quartet, a collection designed to allow people to purchase several editions at a discounted price. This specially selected collection of artists have produced editions borne from iconic works at previous Biennial editions which were directly affiliated with the city. These are Richard Wood’s innovation-investment-progress (2008) which transformed the interior of a former DIY shop, Frances Disley’s Blaze (2016) which toured the city on Arriva buses, and Ryan Gander’s Montessori teaching inspired re-working of the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral with five collaborators from Knotty Ash Primary School.

This co-commission and collection signify an exciting new arm of Liverpool Biennial’s edition model, fostered on collaboration and engaging with new artists and partners in the city.
