Learn the principles of drawing and develop your own drawing style through this two-session course with professional artist and tutorRoy Munday.

‘All of the great artists over the last 500 years had one thing in common: They all knew how to draw.’

Through this course, you will learn how to measure and draw using the fundamental ‘thumb-and-pencil’ method. Mastering this method will allow you to draw accurately and achieve correct proportions. Once you’ve learnt the foundations of drawing, you will gain enormous freedom as an artist.

With each session, you will receive a course handout to download and keep. The handouts detail what that session has covered so all the information is there to refer back at any time.

You can start your course instantly and watch videos in your own time as you will have access to your course for 12 weeks after purchase!

Roy Munday is an experienced tutor and artist, who has been teaching a range of drawing courses across Liverpool for many years.

Materials

  • A3 sketch pad (an A4 is too small and will cramp your style, though ideal for when sketching in the wide world or working on ideas in your armchair at home)
  • B range of pencils: B2. B4. B6. (B pencils are softer than the H range, they rub out more easily and don’t require much pressure on the paper to achieve a line)
  • Rubber
  • Pencil Sharpener
  • Ruler (we don’t draw with a ruler, but use it to help establish a baseline on the subject)
  • Charcoal Sticks (both compressed and willow)
