Julie Jones is a Liverpool based artist, working mainly in acrylic on canvas. Her work is primarily inspired by her love of colour, with plenty of clashes and vibrant jewel tones. She paints to evoke a mood, and to elicit an emotional response in the viewer. Inspirations are taken from the natural world and twisted through a lens of literature, medieval history and mythology.
Julie has been interested in art from an early age, but this was not given expression until a serious illness forced a change of both lifestyle and career 8 years ago. During a period of 9 months during which she was housebound, she started to paint, first becoming fascinated by items in nature which she found in her small garden, then starting to incorporate influences form much loved artists such as the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, Georgia OKeefe, and from medieval illustrations.
